There was an air of restraint at the shows in London Fashion Week autumn winter 2012. Designers whom we know to be flamboyant and bold aremost definitely toning it down for their shows. Either that or possibly there is an air of gloominess in London at the moment.

Jonathan Saunders is a case in point. He chose a deep palette with heavy fabrics and not several prints bar a few stripes. I loved his collection, don’t get me wrong. It is extremely wearable and sophisticated.

Saunders cited Battle Royale, a Japanese film, as an inspiration. It was a small Japanese schoolgirl chic with pleated skirts and significant blazers in school colours of grey check and stripes.

We adored this floral red dress and nipped in gold waist. The feminine silhouette was flattering and memorable, the high neck could have looked stiff but Saunders managed to make the appear relaxed and chic.
