It happens every single year, a poor model takes a trip on the catwalk. It can ruin a career depending on how you deal with it,in a career where elegance and the ability to walk effortlessly in a range of gravity defying shoes we can see why.
This year, at New York Fashion Week, the model in question was at Dennis Basso’s show. The model was wearing a billowing, floor-length dress and the skirt got caught under her shoes. She got up and carried on, with no even a smile.
Last year, it was 17-year-old Lindsay Wixon at the Versace show in Milan. She handled it nicely by raising her arms in victory, showing a sense of humour. We all remember Naomi Campbell who famously fell at a Vivienne Weswood show in 1993, she took it all in her stride too and raised her arms in laughing victory when she was back on her feet. This model did not even crack a smile.
Apparently there are girls who truly be concerned about this and request shoes too little or they sandpaper the soles to cease them slipping!
